Aces Entry Requirements are:

• Being 18 years of age or over
• English Language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or higher
• At Aces Centre we provide 12 weeks English course
• A 9 pre-requisites units must be completed prior to commencement of this qualification
• Successful completion of 12 years of schooling or equivalent to the Australia Higher School Certificate (HSC)

Fees and Charges:
Students must enrol on a full-time 20 hrs per week basis. The qualification details for a Diploma in Information Technology are as follows (Australian Dollars):

• Cost: $10,250 for the Diploma (74 weeks)
• Deposit: The students are asked to pay the tuition fees in full for each qualification preferably 3 months before the starting date.
• Payment arrangements: Direct Deposit into Aces Centre Pty Ltd bank account.
• English: $2,000 for 12 weeks Certificate III in Spoken and Written English.

Support Services:
Aces Centre will provide students with general advice on matters such as travel, accommodation, employment and personal welfare. In addition a comprehensive orientation will be under taken at the beginning of the students learning time, covering all concerns and issues related to studying at the Aces Centre. In addition, Aces Centre Club membership provides students with an economic means for accessing text books related to their course.

Aces Centre Club:
Aces Centre Club Membership is compulsory for students. The Club will provide students at the beginning of each term their main text books. Students may keep the book for the term or can purchase the book at a discounted price from Aces Centre Club. Every student needs to return each book in the same condition it has been given to him/her. If the book is damaged or lost a penalty of $75 will be applied and deducted from the bond. The compulsory club membership cost is $750/annum that includes $150 for the bond. Students with no penalty will receive their bond money at the end of their education at Aces Centre.

Teaching Methods: The learning support strategies used by trainers at Aces Centre include: Classroom instructions (maximum of 12 students per class) Demonstrating procedures. Providing opportunities for ‘hands-on’ experience and practice. Ensuring individual support and advice to students. Encouraging students to work at their own pace.

Course Timetable:
The academic year is divided into 4 terms. Each term is 13 weeks including breaks. Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development) is a 74 weeks course including 4 weeks break between each term. Students must attend full-time (20 hrs per week) for the duration of the course. Students can enrol before the commencement of any of the following terms for Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development), if it is available.

A number of units within this qualification have prerequisites. These are detailed as follows. For HSC equivalent students with no background in IT the following 9 pre-requisites are delivered and assessed before delivering the actual unit. Students must demonstrate competency in the pre-requisites before starting the actual unit. Upon successful completion of these units a “certificate of Attainment” will be issued.

The following units are prerequisites for this qualification as they contain the basic fundamentals of ICT knowledge and skills. For HSC equivalent students with no background in IT the following 9 pre-requisites are delivered and assessed before starting this qualification. Students must demonstrate competency in all these 9 units before starting this qualification. Upon successful completion of these units a “certificate of Attainment” will be issued.

These 9 pre-requisite units are units, which are delivered in our ICA20105 Certificate II in Information Technology qualification. Our ICA20105 Certificate II in Information Technology qualification consists of 14 units, 9 of which are as listed above. These 9 units are offered in 9 weeks. The other 5 units of ICA20105 Certificate II in Information Technology are offered in the following 3 weeks before next term commences.

Students may enrol in our ICA20105 Certificate II in Information Technology qualification to achieve competency in these pre-requisite units, which is a requirement to commence ICA50705 – Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development). Alternatively student may choose to do these units through another RTO or show competency in these 9 units through Recognition of Prior Learning. Students are reminded that these 9 units are pre-requisites for ICA50705 – Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development) and you may not commence the course until the competency in these units have been demonstrated.

Assessment Methods:
Assessments are conducted in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the ICA05 Training Package and the Australian Quality Training Framework Standards for RTOs. Assessments are competency based, which means that the outcomes of assessment are Competent or Not Yet Competent. At the Aces Centre assessments are:

• Valid: Assessment techniques actually assess what they claim to assess.
• Reliable: Assessment approaches provide consistent results every time.
• Fair: The same assessment is used for each learner or situation, while still being flexible.
• Flexible: Different types of assessments are used to assess the student – e.g. verbal, doing, question and answer.

Pathways/Articulation:
Successful completion of this qualification provides a pathway in to the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Information Technology. Students may be able to receive exemptions from some subjects based on this qualification.

Participants in this program are 18 years of age or over with a minimum educational qualification of HSC or equivalent with IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
